Screen Shot 2014-10-13 at 8.07.31 PMOctober 13, 1930 – The Pittsburgh Pirates, the city’s first NHL team, transfered to Philadelphia to become the Quakers.  The Pirates wore orange and black in their last season and would become Philadelphia’s first NHL team.

The Steel Town’s first entry in the National Hockey League. The franchise barely survived five years of sub-par hockey, but were doomed by the Great Depression.
