Season by Season Jersey Overview
1972-73 Pittsburgh Penguins Road Jersey
Late in 1972 the Penguins had the third variation in their uniforms. The logo changed as the circle with "PITTSBURGH PENGUINS" font was removed.
The familiar skating penguin had a slightly longer beak and a broader shoulder line.
The 1973-74 season was the first full season the NHL started using the darker color for "road" or away teams.
The tie-down jerseys were all knit and were manufactured by Wilson Sports.
Player’s names were added to the back of jerseys for nationally televised games.
The crest on this jersey was slighly modified for the next two seasons as the golden triangle was moved slightly off-center.
