In 1973 the Penguins had a new variation in their uniforms. The logo changed as the circular crest with "PITTSBURGH PENGUINS" was removed.
The familiar skating penguin penguin had a slightly longer beak with the the top portion being much larger than the bottom and the golden triangle was slightly off-center.
The 1973-74 season was the first full season the NHL started using the darker color for "road" or away teams.
The tie-down jerseys were all knit and were manufactured by Wilson Sports.
These were the last style Penguins jersey to feature the tie-down collar
Player’s names were added to the back of the jersey for nationally televised games.
