Penguins' players Alexei Kovalev and Ian Moran modeled the new threads as team officials introduced their newest hockey jersey featuring the skating penguin logo.
The new logo on the chest replaced the modern penguin head logo -- first introduced in 1992, shortly after the Penguins won their second Stanley Cup Championship.
Many fans lamented the loss of the skating penguin logo in 1992, insisting the replacement looked too much like a pigeon. A smaller version of the modern crest will remain as a patch on the shoulders.
The white jerseys, trimmed with Las Vegas Gold, were the 2005-06 and 2006-07 road jerseys worn by the team.
These jerseys replaced the 2001-02 non-skating Pens logo jerseys that were used during preason games and retired - adding to the list of defunct styles of team jerseys, 30 different variations in all.
This style jersey was replaced with the Reebok Edge Jersey System at the start of the 2007-08 season.
