Andy Bathgate

Born: August 28, 1932
Hometown: Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada

Bathgate broke into the NHL in 1952-53 with the New York Rangers. Late in his career, he was loaned by the Detroit Red Wings to the Pittsburgh Hornets. The Penguins claimed Bathgate from Detroit in the Expansion Draft, June 1967. He scored 20 goals and 59 points in 74 games and scored the first goal in team history.

Loaned to Vancouver (WHL), Sept. 1968, returned to the Penguins in 1970-71 and retired in June 1971.

Elected to the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1978.
