• Greg Malone recorded six assists against the Quebec Nordiques on November 28.

• Penguins wore black and gold uniforms for the first time vs. St. Louis on January 30.

• Penguins defeated the New York Islanders, 4-3, on January 3 to gain first place in the Norris Division for the first time in club history.

• 1980 USA Gold Medal Olympian Mark Johnson made his Penguins debut on March 2 vs. New York Islanders and scored his first NHL Goal on March 23 vs. Winnipeg.
