The Pittsburgh-area players played a huge role in leading Team USA to the gold at the 2013 World Junior Championship in Ufa, Russia.
Local products John Gibson, J.T. Miller, Vince Trocheck and Riley Barber helped the U.S. defeat defending champion Sweden, 3-1, in the tournament’s gold medal game on Saturday. Trocheck scored an empty-net goal late in the third period to ice the victory and added an assist in the contest. Overall, Trocheck netted six points (3G-3A) in the tournament.
